There are stories of a mighty creature of stone in these deserts, though so few have claimed to seen it, that they are often dismissed. The beast is of gigantic proportion, though it keeps itself well hidden from the world. Its backside is wrapped in a massive, age-worn scarf, and it is said that the creature will move at the most leisurely of paces, unless angered…
Some say the beast carries the scarf of unfortunate wanderers who fall prey to it in its powerful jaws. That it nestles itself in the sand, pretending to be a dune until a poor, unsuspecting soul wanders too close.
But then some say, that the creature is a peaceful sort. One who roams the vast sands with a purpose only it knows. They say it is drawn to those whose hearts are heavy and vulnerable…and that it only makes itself known when it feels needed.
But what will you have to say of the Desert Tortoise…?
